Apology to Gay BYU Student

Playasinmar posted a comment on my last entry, and I wanted to explain my stupidity mistake. I read Gay BYU Student's post about the letter he was sending to his parents to come out. I thought it was awesome. Apparently, I thought that it was so awesome that when I wrote my letter coming out to my family I shamelessly plagarized borrowed some of his ideas.

I apologize to GBYUS for being a dufus. But, hey, he had a lot of good stuff in there, and for the rest of you still in the closet how different will your letter to your family really be? I think that we're all in quite similar boats as far as what we need to say when the time comes.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I thought it was genuinely amazing that you two would come out at the same time and in the same manner. On top of that you two wrote letters that tried to assuage the same fears/concerns. Same crisis, different families, but the [near] same solution. That was really great to see.

I want you to know that I'm not offended in the least by any plagiarizing, er borrowing, that you may have done. Like Playasinmar said, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I realize we're going through some very similar experiences right now. When I posted my letter I didn't copyright it.... so I don't care at all that anyone else uses ideas from it. I'm glad that the work and thought I put into it could be helpful to someone besides myself.

By the way, I started reading your letter and was going to comment on it, but I have been so busy the last couple days, I'm still meaning to do so. I wish you the best of luck with your parents. It can be difficult but it will be ultimately rewarding. Guaranteed.
